What’s the weather like in April in the Vosges?

Early spring is very changeable, and we can have very pleasant days with temperatures in excess of 20 degrees. But it’s not unusual to see snow on the heights and sometimes even at the bottom of the Vosges valleys.

  • Average temperature in Gérardmer in April: 11 degrees
  • Record low: -5 degrees in 2013
  • Maximum record: 25 degrees in 2018
  • Number of days with rain or snow: 12

What to do if it rains in Gérardmer?

If the weather is bad and the rain lasts too long, you’ll certainly want to look for indoor activities. You can watch a film at the Casino du Lac, go bowling or go swimming.

There’s also the Petits Crus Vosgiens at Le Beillard, and the wildlife museum at Xonrupt (5 mins from Gérardmer). There’s also the Géromoise confectionery on the Route d’Épinal and the Vosges household linen factory shops.

Gérardmer’s MCL frequently holds exhibitions, as does L’ESPACE LAC, where you may also be interested in trade fairs and other events. We recommend that you add the Gérardmer town hall calendar to your favourites.

Holidays for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts

In April, the boatmen are back and the lake is no longer frozen, so you can hire a pedalo or a boat. You can also walk around Lake Gérardmer in 1? hours on flat ground, but without a pushchair.

You can of course see the waterfalls:

  • Le saut des cuves
  • Le saut de la bourrique
  • La cascade de la mérelle

There are plenty of ideas for walks in Gérardmer, starting from the ski resort, for example, or from the gouttridos.

There are also many sporting activities on offer, including sailing, rowing, kayaking and paragliding…

For your Easter holidays in the Vosges, don’t hesitate to take to the heights, so you can discover all the splendour of the summits on a hike to the Hohneck, for example..

If you want to come to Gérardmer for the Daffodil Festival, make sure you book your stay as early as possible, as the weekend is very busy.
